Went in for my alterations appointment at David's Bridal, and it was amazing. Mainly, because I didn't need to have any alterations done, and I got to walk out of the store with my dress. Hooray! Plus, the plumber is finally gone, after the job that was supposed to take 2 days, ended up taking 7.

Why is it so hard to get in state tuition? UCO is seriously making me consider putting off getting my degree purely so I can be guaranteed getting in state tuition. I mean, I live in Oklahoma, I've been living here, I have a job here, and I pay taxes here. Give me the in state tuition people! I just want to get my masters from you.

Etsy

I finally finished putting together my Etsy shop and posted my first piece of jewelry to be sold. I'm excited! My shop is at http://www.etsy.com/shop/DardenBeads. I even designed the banner and my avatar (little picture on the side) myself.

School systems are really funny. Today, my boss called one of our schools to see if our kids had choir practice today, which they didn't because it's on Mondays and not on Wednesdays. But, they did feel like they should inform us that there will be no school on Thursday or Friday this week due to extreme temperatures, and they're inability to properly heat the schools. Or something along those lines. But, since they decided to cancel school on such short notice, they weren't going to be sending home letters to the parents. Luckily, some of the teachers hand wrote letters to send home with all of their kids. But we spent the afternoon calling all the parents, telling them school was cancelled for the next two days and asking if they needed us to be open for them for the two days. I guess this is Oklahoma for you. Cancel school if the temperatures are going to drop below 10. It's predicted that we're not supposed to go above 20 until at least Saturday, and then I think it's only supposed to be 20. It's going to be a fun rest of the week!

Oh yeah, and I got to dress up and act like a donkey at work today. Perks of working with kids, I guess.

At the New Year's Eve party I went to last night, I met a science teacher from one of the local high schools, and she said she'd talk to me about going through the alternative certification procedure here and she'd set it up so that I could shadow one of her environmental science teachers. I didn't even realize that was a course in high school. It was never offered at any of my high schools. Hmmmm......elementary education or highschool science......

One thing about having a lot of time on my hands from not having a full time job, means that I have lots of time to bead. I've finished so many projects that my jewelry collection is expanding greatly. You can even look at pictures of all of my various finished projects in my picasa photo album (link located on the right). In fact, I even have enough time to make Christmas presents for many different people.

I've now, finally, finished my first day of work on Tuesday, and it was lots of fun. There are 14 kids, some of which we pick up from school and bring back to the church. So I'm going to be working Tues, Thurs, Sat, and occasionally Sundays. The schedule with the kids is pretty easy, they have snack time when they get there, then they do their homework and play for awhile, then it's reading time, and at they end they do arts and crafts. It's a pretty cool program and I really like the other two women I'm going to be mainly working with.

Repairs on the house are going really well, I finished staining the deck and we should be having the stone put up on the house while we're gone for Thanksgiving. And of course I'm going to be in Charleston for Thanksgiving!
